Monaco: many jobs, few employers, a framework of its own

Three situations we see often in Monaco

They share one thing: a lot of documents, mandatory checks, and skilled teams spending part of their time re-keying.

Who to know in Monaco

Before starting a project, a Monaco business should know these bodies. They set the framework or help fund the work.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an AI consulting firm that works in Monaco?

Yes. GiLabs is a French company registered in Nice (SIREN 108 308 214), based in the Alpes-Maritimes, that works on client premises in Monaco. Its founder, Yann Gilliot, built regulated applications in private banking in the Principality. The firm maps processes, costs the gain in euros, then builds the agents and applications itself.

Does the GDPR apply to an AI project run in Monaco?

Monaco is not a member of the European Union. Personal data protection falls under Law No. 1.565 of 3 December 2024, modelled on the GDPR, and its supervisory authority, the APDP. A supplier established in France also remains subject to the GDPR for its own processing. A project is therefore framed against both texts, with your data protection officer or your counsel, before any code is written.

Where is a bank's or an asset manager's data processed?

Where you decide, agreed in writing before the work starts: in your infrastructure, in your tenant, in the hosting region you select. Nothing leaves that perimeter without your written consent. Every extraction stays linked to its source document, and human validation comes before anything is written to your applications.

Can the Blue Fund co-finance an AI project?

The project can be, but as a rule not with a French supplier. The Blue Fund co-finances up to 70% of the pre-tax amount of digital projects run by Monaco businesses, AI productivity solutions included. Its terms and conditions call for a supplier registered with the Monaco Trade and Industry Directory (RCI). Where no such supplier exists in the Principality for the need, the application is considered case by case. GiLabs is a French company: work entrusted to it does not fall within that framework by default, and a budget should not be built on this co-financing.

Do you work in English?

Yes. Workshops, deliverables and documentation are in English or in French, depending on your team's working language.
